Dr. Lynn Faulkner

Dr. Lynn Faulkner received undergraduate and graduate degrees in piano performance
from the University of Alabama, where she was a student of Amanda Penick. As a
doctoral student, she was the recipient of the Narramore Endowed Music Fellowship and
the Graduate Council Fellowship, and was awarded the Wilbur Rowand Prize for
Outstanding Music Student. She was named a semifinalist in the Fischoff National
Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, Indiana, and received the Alabama
Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Award. Her doctoral dissertation, “Continuity in
Brahms’s Late Piano Works” received the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the
College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama, and was selected for inclusion
in Maurice Hinson’s book, The Pianist’s Bookshelf. Dr. Faulkner has been an
accompanist for many fine singers and instrumentalists, including the soprano Elizabeth
Futral and tenor Gran Wilson. She has served in the music departments of Samford
University, Huntingdon College, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and the
University of New Orleans. Dr. Faulkner joined the University of Montevallo music
department in 2007. In 2007-2009 she accompanied both singers and instrumentalists,
and from 2009-2020 she also taught Class Piano and Elective Piano, Keyboard Harmony
and Technique, and Accompanying. Dr. Faulkner was the 2016 recipient of the University
of Montevallo’s Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award. Since 2020 she has served The
University of Montevallo primarily as a vocal accompanist, and is the accompanist for
the University Chorus and Concert Choir. With Dr. Eun-Hee Park, a University of
Montevallo piano faculty member, she has presented several Piano Duo Recitals as a
member of the Park-Faulkner Piano Duo. In recent years Dr. Faulkner has also presented
several solo piano recitals at the University of Montevallo and at Homewood Cumberland
Presbyterian Church, where she serves as the Choir Director and Pianist
